My belief is that it would put a damper on things. Depending on timing, before or after is better.

It is a good time to get people to donate to charities, I guess. But for personal illnesses, no, I don't think so.

I don't know dear Bill. I do know that a Brother in law one time used Christmas day to tell everyone that he only had 4 months to live. it sort of ruined the day for everyone including the little kids who didn't understand why people were crying.
