Yes I know the feeling, some delight in trying to demean a so called friend. Never mind your Dad's advice was good at the time. It seems a lot of aggro for a diminutive position.

This sounds like you turned a negative into a positive that worked
for you in the long run. I guess we wouldn't be human if some people didn't get to us once in a while. The worst of it is - from my point of view - is when someone knows and deliberately tries to make things tough.
