Re: Corbin

Corbin I have spoken to folk and have known more of there family history than they ever would. I don't think they could have communicated with there parents hardly at all.

Re: RPresta -

One does not realize it at the time but Gypsies in those days were mostly unschooled or moved so frequently that it was a job to get a lot of education. When I think back some had really regal faces more like one would imagine an Indian Chief, I suppose they wre sun tanned. I will try and see if I can think of that time .

A very interesting exchange with the gypsies. I myself have never come across any.

Fascinating!  My grandmother and her family had several encounters with gypsies in Czechoslovakia.

CCT - Oh, this was great fun to read. I so enjoyed it.

It's a great story, made better by you getting your mom to talk! It was really difficult to get my grandmother to spill the beans about much, but I was persistent. My dad was pretty tight-lipped about his lady-friends before he met my mom, but Mother, she'd talk.

It's always interesting when people discover their folks had a whole

'nother life before they were just mom and dad. I liked your mother's response.
