Deer collisions are a major issue where I live at as well. Hardly a day goes by when I'm driving on the road and I don't see a deer lying dead on the side of a road.

I did learn that the end product at the traditional OX roast at the local fair will be venison this year.

Because of the 2,600 acres that surround the campus core and
student housing areas, the natural deer population gravitated toward those wooded areas where new housing developments will not displace the animals. Deer, coyotes, and there are rumors of a cougar, and several flocks of wild turkeys are there and in neighborhoods in town. People lose buds and flowers to the munching deer, my son took a photo of a fawn nestled in his back yard a few days ago. And you're absolutely right - this time of year is dangerous on area roads because of them.

We have deer not too far from here. And on our some of our streets and freeways sometimes there are deer crossing warnings, as they sure can ruin a car. The picture didn't come through. I don't think I could kill a deer either, at least under normal circumstances.
