My journalism prof "God" aka Bill Ward, used to call tv newscasts "infotainment." In those days (the 80s) CNN was new and all-news, these days - well, you know...

If they ignored those tweets, would they stop??? How many times I've asked myself that very question. I think the top tweeter likes the trouble he stirs with them. If nobody noticed them, he'd try something else.

It it even Journalism? Seems more like Commentary so much of the time. I thought Journalism was an unbiased presentation of facts, stipped bare, so that one could come to one's own decision as to what to make of each fact. I also would like to see news presented in a different way.

like you I want straight news and i want world wide news. I want to know how the bushfires are being fought, i want to know about earth quakes in Indonesia I want to know what is really happening in Palestine and Syria and etc. But tell me and yes move onto the next item.
If people ignored those tweets altogether, would they stop????

Once again, we are in the same thought-boat!
You have perfectly described what I call Bimbo Journalism. Got yelled at on Facebook a few weeks back over that term as they thought I was talking about female journalists instead of male and female of the type you describe.
