- Go to SCHOOL DAYS...
we had seven weeks which was forever seeming when I was young and then while we were little Mother and dad had no thought about taking us out of school for two to three weeks holiday once the harvest was done. now in Aussie land there are 4 terms instead of three and kids only get 5 weeks of Summer break Not long enough for little people. In MHO.

Pat - Nice post
I loved summers. My mom would take us to the library. lol. That was fun for me. My sis and bro, uh, not so much. The weather was warm. It was like being freed from confinement. I loved it. We did other things also, the usual. Going back to school was always exciting. New uniforms. I was anxious to begin each new grade; I wanted to learn more than I knew, to have the knowledge that the "big kids" had. Guess nothing's changed.

Of course we walked to school little groups and ones like the Tribe of Israel so called .
Now the same distance is covered by cars and a few older stragglers. I used to take my younger brother by bycycle and he always reminds me how being late I swerved and tipped into a ditch.

Those summers from long ago did feel like a lifetime. My family and I would go to Ocean City and later, also Myrtle Beach, during summers. Lot of good times. I always looked forward to the return of school. It was a chance to see friends who I hadn't seen much of during summer.
