Maybe a rock garden filled with interesting succulents? Hens'n'chicks, that sort of thing.

My brother has a pond, but he became tired of the frogs that colonized it . He drained it and it looked awful so now he just fills it halfful two plastic ducks and a water lily.

My brother-in-law loved his yard and his koi pond (in Effingham). He loved his yard and spent most of his retirement working there, but he kept it beautiful. He died about five years ago. I hope whoever has the place now keeps it up like he did.

Dealing with contractors can be a major hassle. So many of them seem to forget their appointments and jobs at hands. Going with the rock idea might be the best solution.
