No! What I would do, and have done, is have the animals cremated and scatter the ashes in the garden.

I have a dog cemetery in my yard (my yard is 2.7 acres).
I currently have 5 dogs buried each with plaque on their grave.

I keep a bit of spare ground to bury animals, as long as it is not an elephant.

Only if it had Spanish eyes. Actually, it depends on the size and condition of the yard. I can imagine a nice little grave garden for a beloved pet.
