A couple of days back a tree lost one of its huge branch during a spell of heavy rains...I used to see it from my window every day.True trees age like us and become weak... that's the cycle.

We were in the cemetery and a massive limb came crashing down from a tall tree . It has been put down to the drought, we really do need rain.

I have had a few trees fall myself on the back of my property. Never dull.

Re: MOEC

Explanation:  Back when Colin Powell was in the news a lot, Son was making fun of his name.  "Colin, he said, what kind of name is that.  That's an awful name.  I'd rather be called Ribcage than Colin."  So, that became his nickname--Ribcage."

Goodness.....it's gonna be worse today and tomorrow.  I waited until the sun went below the treeline to cut some grass.....it was still hard to breath. I gave up.

TAPS

That's huge tree, and nephew is a big boy also! Weather extremes are harder on trees than people realize. We are still losing trees in this area from rains the year before last.

Wow.  Your poor son.  It sounds like a difficult job.

My mind just went off in its own direction & I forgot to mention

Lots of trees down in this neck of the woods, too - and power outages.

My son who recently took a job as the resident plumber at the med. security prison in East St. Louis told me the power's out down there and he was up most of the night getting the emergency generators up and running, the basement pumps working - the place suffers from deferred maintenance, and there's no AC except in the administrative offices. Rich has gotten a lot of stuff up and running in the 3 weeks he's been there, but he can't make it comfortable in this heat & humidity. They told him it might be another 48 hours before they get the power back on.
