i guess i am behind times, as i have never had anything on me that i would care if the police searched me. and i brought up my sons to do the same. but i guess if it is the law that they have to obtain written permission then they need to do that, but that is good for the people breaking the law isn't it?.

I've noticed a lot of changes in these situations with the advent of "Body Cams" on the police. They inform the people involved that there are being taped and that gives them the evidence of making the request....

Thank you for your input. I was just wondering after an incident on the bus. The bus operator found the missing phone. He returned it to the woman. So, a call to the police and search wasn't needed. And, he apologized to the other passengers.
