I think part of the allure of Soaps is the suspension of reality. I love how you explained this soap opera. Anything can and does happen.

I had to put up with Joe Love and his addiction to "All My CHildren"....and dog names.....Kindell, Bianca, Ritchy, & Phoebe......

I've never watched Days Of Our Lives, but back when I was a young mother I was addicted to General Hospital and One Life To Live.

The amount of stuff that viewers endure eventually is repetitive and mixed with a broth of short memory. Perhaps it is even soothing to some, and it does not require a lot of response .

Soap operas are fun to watch with all of the drama that happens on them. It is impressive how many of those shows are long-running.
