Re: CCT,

It's always been the driving goal, to come finally to happiness. Cynicism will maybe get someone to a place of self-satisfaction, even self-justification, but never happiness. Only acceptance and humor, I think, lead to happiness, and I am still working on it!

Friends like you, like a few other Blogiteers I could name, are part of how I know I am getting there.

One of your good "thinking posts" that get every one who reads it thinking.

Re: FormerStudentIntern,

Coming to a head, as they do: The American Revolution, the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution--and numerous uprisings throughout history... Yet the same people who abuse wealth and power never seem to learn.

I have noticed it, too, that younger people are cynical of their government. Things are coming to a head after thousands of years.

Re: Kabu,

I agree.

In the 50s, 60s I was childishly accepting and acquiescing. In the 70s I began to suspect... 80s onwards for a while I was getting really pissed off but still felt powerless to change anything. It was my era of sulking, self-pity and angsty poetry.  Since the start of the previous campaign season, I've thought a lot more about what I can do to influence events myself--mainly with writing and speaking out.

I don't think I am a-typical, I think there are many like me of my generation following a similar evolvement.

Thought provoking post dear one. I think that this group now growing into their late teens and twenties are more inclined to do something about improving their world more than their parents generation. Less inclined to blame the Baby Boomer age group and more inclinded to set to to change things for the better.
