Oh, such good points! Yes, I've been trapped for luncheons and events before and it's no fun. Wish I had been bright enough or quic enough to lie in those days. Better to just be "unable to make it" in a case like that. Interesting about the cruise, though.

I am not one for going out much especially in the winter up here when it is dark and cold most of the time. I would go on a short cruise again but Wiley would not have fun now.

I wouldn't go on another cruise if someone paid me a fortune to do it, and that's no lie (even though I've told my share of them in my lifetime.)

Well there you are Pat. All you have to say, ''Let me think , yes I am going on a cruise on that day. I just say now ,I would love to go but my hearing is poor and it is embarrassing not to understand what the usual boring folk are saying.' Well use your discretion If you still feel you must go, I will try to think of another excuse.

Boy, do I know that feeling. It really stinks when we think it is going to be over and just goes on and on. It makes one's mind want to explode.
