A) they were wrong to ignore the threat, and
2) I don't think the FBI was as interested in the porn star as they were in figuring out if the fixer was involved in working with foreign agents to manipulate the election.
On a related matter, the game of politics is so nasty it's a wonder any person with half a brain and a moral compass would ever get involved in the intrigues and deal making that go into trying to help our nation be of, by and for the people.
