Hopefully, the weather is good for the hike...She has made quite an impression on the speaker.

Re: Re: Taps
Back then, never did I ever find a dead body in any woods I frequented.

Re overtherainbow
My S.I.L. had a bad knee, we laughed she went into the surgery and a very old lady said to her.'Got the stick then?' 'Oh! yes , I've got the stick.' replied my S.I.L . I did find a good one that has a pointed end and opens to sit on. I have not used it yet but I bought a pair of soft hip protectors as I have tripped up once or twice on hose pipes etc. Good memories that's nice,

Pat
I expect she did but I never thought of that, when I grow up I'll let the old man cook the dinner.

Re: Taps
Somehow I don't think the woods are so inviting as they were. We as kids would wander as you did without a care.

My mom always said to not track dirt on the clean floors. This poem reminded me of that. Thank you. Sometimes it is too much for little ones to hike as far as the older ones. It depends on the child sometimes. Both are lovely poems with surprise endings.

I loved going hiking in the woods when I was a child. In fact I have loved it all my life. Never got enough of it. We had such fun and learned so many things.

I love the hiking poem, especially the last line. LOL
I half expected there to be a surprise waiting for the children at home, something Mum had prepared while Dad took them out as a diversion. Oh, well, maybe next time.

yes kabu is right. but this poem brought me back to England, when i visited i noticed people walking and their walking sticks and their dogs with them, it so enchanted me that even to this day when i talk of my travels it is my first story. now I am a proud owner of my own walking stick, poor thing only gets to travel around my yard.

Adults so often forget that little legs have to walk three steps to every one that Dad takes.
