We used to have mostly frigid winters, lots of snow at least
in the mountain foothills where I grew up. There was heavy snow pack until July and the melt-runoff kept lowland city reservoirs filled, the forests green. I don't remember there being such critical, dangerous droughts in California and the great southwest, nor such widespread forest fires that moved so fast they'd take out whole towns before they could be stopped. This may be a fault in my memory, or it may be that towns have been built in areas that were once natural areas.
But I'm convinced that global warming is a thing, that human overpopulation is a threat to all life on earth and the two factors are intimately linked.
