Re RPresta

Yes RP some and some most around here have married into the local population.

Some hit it lucky dealing in scrap metals which at one stage made some small fortunes.

Also some were lucky to buy small plots of land which increased in value as the housing market expanded. .A third generation and one would not know the difference.

Re: Pat

Pat when I was small there was a large gypsy encampment about five minutes walk away. Evidently we did not mind the gypsies it was the lino folk who came from London way,  of which we were wary .

Re:

Yes I saw today that two of our largest newspapers are to be combined . Even then the papers sold will be many millions below former sales.

The poems remind me of the days when newspaper classifieds were all the rage. Now times have changed a whole lot since then.

I really enjoyed the Gypsy poem - and it had a happy ending.

Met a girl from Romany once, she said the term "gypsy" was insulting to her, but I always thought it had a romantic, adventurous aura.

Love the name of that newspaper! Good one. I imagine some street sweepers did find little treasures from time to time. And the Gypsies will promise many things. Here and in many places they are often  looked down upon. But they say a Gypsy blessing is good. Cute poems.
