It seems that perhaps that night you achieved a personal breakthrough to the tune of I've got this, as they say now! Those moments of having to face one's fears, and then overcome them, mark our memories. Good for you!

I felt the same way when I started driving on the highway by myself. Unless I had a passenger with me, I would drive via regular roads to my desintations. However, once I got into student teaching, the highway was by far the fastest way to drive, so I went with it and excelled at driving the highways.

I totally understand. Wiley has been the primary driver here in Canada and always at night and when it is snowing. Just driving during the day with left hand drive took me some time to become really familiar with. Just going to the proper door to open to get into the car has been a challenge.
Now I have to do 90%of the driving and all night driving and snow time driving. I give thanks that Wiley can still guide me with a steady voice and an unsteady foor...yes he is using his foot to phantom break all the time

It was a nice simple straightforward risk... and a success!

It is strange how our minds deliberate over taking risks. I should not think that Fang even considered how you might feel, or he would have surely have driven you himself. You were, well are a brave forgiving lady, but I guess your Mum was the same in a different way.

You are brave indeed. I like the title DO IT ANYWAY, in spite of fear, in spite of opposition, in spite of obstacles. And this is an informed bravery, instead of the blind bravery of ignorant fools, who do not even realize the dangers.
