I don't know much about car washes, but we had a brand new car and took it to a car wash and the place scratched the paint terribly. Had to get it clear-coated or some such thing.

Re: Pat
This so reminded of an older cousin I have who was just like that when I was about - well, younger.... I had completely forgotten.

I never much enjoyed going to the car wash, but I remember
the '50s, when washing the car and getting the interior spotless was part of the guy's dating ritual. Clean the car, shower and shave, clean jeans and a white tee shirt (some with a pack of Camels rolled in one sleeve), and then come knock on the girl's door. Revving the motor or honking was no way to treat a lady. Remember the "D-A" haircut?

We have the in-bay automatic that you recently went through.
We have also operated conveyors with the chains before. My dad sold one of those years ago. The other is a rental.
Nowadays, the chain conveyors are getting replaced with what I will call an escalator belt. They are nice. Over time, chains - their steel - stretch over time and need more maintenance.
