Re: Pat,

At the price, I am not too surprised, but perhaps it will be back when the price comes down.

Re: RPresta,

The grocery store I shop at is very sustainability conscious, especially in the meat department. They are very aware of where their fish comes from, for instance. This is important to a shrimp-lover like me!

Re: TAPS,

I've found that a meal of vegies without any meat makes the vegies taste better.

Re: overtherainbow,

Sadly true: I don't enjoy food as much as I used to. A mixed blessing, truly.

Re: CCT,

When I visited last time, my daughter roasted a Linda McCartney brand nut-loaf. It was delicious, and I am sorry no one carries it here in the states.

I've tried many mean substitutes and decided I'd rather the real thing; just not much of it. Never did anyway...

i feel the same about the way our meat is produced and have also cut way back on meat. i would never dream of paying 12 dollars a pound for any kind of food, dont eat out much either, but i am older and i think you lose your love affair with food as you get older. a salad made at home and a cup of soup is good enough.

I'd rather just eat vegetables than try to make vegetables into meat.

Well we eat Quorn a meat substitute, lately we have had sausages which are not bad at all with real good skins. I must say the products are improving rapidly. Don't go a lot on burgers though, but I never complain if my brother does the cooking. Perhaps you do not have the demand for non meat as we do. The memory of disease does not vanish like a burger.

The local supermarket where I shop offered notmeat a few months

ago and I thought it was good smothered in spaghetti sauce with onions, etc., but it must not have found many buyers and it's no longer offered. Interesting to hear your review of it.
