Perhaps it did become a matter of principle. Sad in a way, they lost in the end. There was an issue about the American flag being too large outside someone's home, I recall, and also someone had a huge cross on the top of their hill that became an issue. First, they lost to the courts, then they won, then...I dunno what happened!

I would love to live in a sort of tree house. one made out of wood with perhaps the heart a beautiful stump of an oak. Just thinking.

They either really loved that treehouse, or it was the principle of the thing. Damned maddening when you can't even decide what or what not to put on your own land that you already pay taxes on.

Time to fight and time to concede defeat. Nothing is played by rules in publishing it is the money that counts . So one has to do something first that appeals to those who would like to do it. I suppose if you could grow a beard, or be praised by the President your books would be out on the street before you could blink. .

They were very determined to keep that treehouse going, I see. I probably would not have put $180 k into that.
