interesting question, my mother when she got much older would take small things without paying, shop lifting, they were small things, she would bring them home and put them in a shopping bag and they went in a pile. she was a hoarder, so when she died her house was filled with these shopping bags filled with a pencil, or a magnet, all these small trinkets. I dont think she did it for the thrill, or because she needed these items, or that because she couldnt pay for them, its almost like she insullating herself or the house against something. We will never know why.

Some people are maxed out, even if they have a secure job that pays well. Others like the thrill of it.
