I've been around alcoholics whose disease affects everyone in their
circle, and I fear my patience and concern only goes so far. Once their risk-taking puts my home, my kids' or my own life and safety in danger, I'm done. But I love Charlie's big heart.

That's quite a tale. Good for Charlie on all counts.
As for me personally, I'm afraid I was born with an enabler personality.
