I like the short lines in the first poem. That adds a lot to it...The canvas is quite the metaphor.

Well I do remember this type type of shoe of course it was covered with a skin of something akin to plastic. Tear through the outer and it looked pretty much like cardboard. Just a thought gas masks very useful if only for peace of mind. Pity the filter was asbestos . War years of course.

Re: adnohr
Believe me adnohr I know how cold boots were I don't know why but as a lad I wore boots with hob nails on the soles it was as period of cold winters the ice would stick to the soles and transmit the cold up through the nails. No wonder chilblains were rife. I once saw a little gypsy girl wearing a coat made out of a jute sack .

Re:'RP
Thank you RP I know not much of a conventional form, have to think of it as a task to keep alert. Hope you are feeling better,

The first one is so cleverly done. Well done. And the second one is one where I would think she'd let you keep her image in your mind. Very nice.

LOVE the second poem!!! When we were little ones in foster home we would put pieces of jute bags in our boots to help keep our feet warm. We all did it.

Interesting form in the first one - I don't know if there's a
formal name for it or not, but it's fun. Cardboard shoes - I've heard of putting folded paper inside when there's not enough $$$ to replace the shoe or get a half-sole...
