Oh! dear, dear I guess you would have persevered if only to hear that melodious tinkle as the milk hit the pail. Years since, a young lad used to drive cows along our lane,in those days it was grass verges. He did it for a lady who sold milk ,pushed it in a pram around to the customers. The young lad always carried a jam jar secretly I suspect and would dive under a grazing cow, to fill his jar. Just a perk I suppose.

I never milked the cow by hand ever on the farm or after marriage. I always made sure that I had long finger nails and someone else had to milk the old girl.
