Unbelievable

Soooo.....  a dismal disaster has unfolded its dark and sticky claws upon this place while I was gone for just a month or so......  what the hell happened to make Naut leave us???  This is a travesty and a crime.....  and I must get to the bottom of it.

If I were here, I would not have allowed it,  for Nautikos is my best friend here in Blogit, and not only that, but a real friend in the synchronicity of our views, our morals, and our interests.  Why did his travail happen while I was away, dealing with my own troubles??  I just had to experience the sadness of putting my mother in a nursing home.  I was gone for a month or so, and Nautikos lost his mojo here at the same time.... HOW could this happen???

The devil is in the details,  and the devil has somehow scored a victory here....  a victory that I must try to reverse, and bring our friend Nautikos back to us.....  hey Naut, I just renewed my Blogit subscription, and it was only about 50 bucks..... that is not the issue,  I know,  but if it was,  I would send you the money in a flash.

I am getting on a plane tomorrow, for my yearly trip to Thailand with my dear wife, but when I get there,  and work out the internet bugs,  I will return here and try to  re-establish the incredible friendship and synchronicity that I had with you, for the past few years......  Merry Christmas,  Happy New Year,  to Hell with the Muslims,  and of course.....  Cheers

I am sure you will be welcomed back Naut, not many of us left.

Well, I see that I did read it.  I just did not go back and read the comments that followed mine.  I definitely will take Christianity over Muslim teachings.  This post is a good follow up to the last post, and a good anwer to the comments made in the first.

Apparently I missed the post you are referring to, and will now have to back up and go read it.

Lije you, I find that Islam's poor treatment is Islam is entrenched in its scripture. Sadly, there are no women's marches for women being oppressed by Islam.

Nautikos

Dear Naut, gosh, just based strictly on your post yesterday, I took the title to be in the sarcastic vein in which it was written and intended, and never did I consider otherwise. I also understood the context of your post, and the content, and wasn't offended, nor did it occur to me to think that I should have been. I grasp your meaning.

As an aside, in my Southern Italian ethnic background, consisting of those who were of the Catholic religion, it had been the standard and customary social norm until the late 19th century/early 20th century that wives were in a sense, owned by husbands, almost as chattel; hence the dowry and marriage contract system. And women were required to obey husbands or be subject to being beaten. There was even a clause which could be inserted in the marriage contract prohibiting the beating of a wife, especially one of gentile or noble status, or the penalty to the offending husband would be a forfeiture of the dowry (back to the wife's father), and I believe she could then return to her family.

Now, ONLY as info, and because I can't keep quiet (lol), there are a few sections in the Bible which could prove disturbing on this subject if one followed them to the letter. I'll spare everyone a litany here. One example is Ephesians 5:22 (ESV): Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. King James is very similar. (Hebrew Names Version is: Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.) Oh, yes... To me, the source of quote(s) like this regarding women is not the entire point.

We can all agree that, I think, that the concept of inequality is not acceptable to most women of today, and that's what you were saying, imho. I'm stepping off my soapbox now.

Maybe the "islam is so much worse" topic is irrelevant?

From my perspective... I think asking for passages from the Bible was a little off.  I understand your point was to show that Islam actually has written rules to treat women poorly (and how much worse it is because of it -- agreed), but we don't need to provide text to prove that sexism exists in Christianity or any other culture.  It's real and it's bad, and to be dismissive of it may be insulting for the women who have experienced it...
