No man is going to tell me what to do!  I am woman!  Hear me roar!

I guess that's why I am still single.  lol

It really does not matter I feel, man or woman they should both be treated equally, probably in time this will happen, but no one likes to give up power.

Re: Re: Women and girls in public media, in "news" commentaries, in schools,

Perhaps the word "amuse" has confused the issue. The saying "I don't find this stuff amusin' any more" is a line from a movie in which the actor was being attacked - just before he whopped the socks off the bad guys. I assume you're aware that the ever growing threat you speak of is widely broadcast on the news every day.

That Weinstein fellow is finally starting to get his just desserts for his horrible behavior toward women, yet these sort of Muslims are not being brough to the mainstream attention by the media. It is alarming for Western civliization.

No you don't write this stuff to amuse

But you posted it, and that is your right.

It is also my right as a woman to write what I and almost every woman I know understands.

It is not just in Muslim society where women suffer because of religious writings, practically every society and religion have subtle language and rules that trap woman and daughters in second class citizenship for life.

I myself personally was told by a Christian pastor that I was so blessed to be born a woman. I got to spend my life not having to worry about anything beyond the well being of my home and family. Obedience to my husband was bringing me a life free of worry and burdens and hard working hours.

The husband of that period of my life is not a very bright man but he did have the common sense to remove me quickly from the vicinity of said Pastor.

You know darn well that I was not attacking you personally. That hurt.

Pat, I don't blame you! However, I do not post this stuff to amuse, but to instruct people about an ever growing threat...

Women and girls in public media, in "news" commentaries, in schools,

from the pulpit, in the home are constantly subjected to the judgment and opinions of others on the proper way to behave and think. What we wear, how much we eat, how loudly we laugh, or that we shouldn't cry - all of these are fair game for males of all stripes and condiments. As one who has been in the crosshairs, been treated like a silly child even unto extreme maturity - I do not find this stuff amusing any more. I

Re: When you say the right way - you mean "right."

No Pat, I don't mean that, they do! And even your man did not have God's authority to act the way he did...And maybe I should c hange that to 'proper', and have done that...

When you say the right way - you mean "right."

I was married to a man like this. Fortunately I decided to divorce rather than shoot him.

Re:

Kabu! Do you really believe stuff like this is being preached from the pulpits of 'far right Christian' congregations? And I don't recall that it says anywhere in the New Testament that God has exalted men over women! I also don't recall Jesus saying any of the things Muhammad is uttering, but you may know it better than I do. And when you tell me to take 'responsibility for your own behavior', are you addressing me? And if so, can you suggest what 'old writings' I might be hiding behind?

It is also far right wing Christianity doctrine and I have no patience with either, or with anyone who blames everything on Women. Men take responsibility for your own behavior. Don't hide behind some old writings or blame women for your own weaknesses.
