FSI's comment hits the spot! I can remember bringing in hay with the lads - horses and wagons and huge pitchforks. They gave me a little fork  'cause I was so small. Sweltering heat, and itch from the bugs and the hay, my grandma ladeling out mugs of lukewarm koolaid and thick sandwiches we ate in the field so as not to interrupt the flow. We were in bed early, tired but with a huge sense of having had a fruitful day. I loved it all!! And I've heard pebbles sing, even BEFORE the '60's!

I saw a rat once. It was big and fat and ugly, and it scared me to death.  It was early one morning when I was expecting some church ladies for brunch and had driven to the bakery for some cinnamon rolls and some biscotti.  In the street was this huge rat searching the curb crevices for pieces of buns and things that had been dropped or discarded.

Re: Re:

it has always sat in the back of my mind that Sis does have some of them but hey who cares really. none of my grandchildren have any interest in Nan's old family.

Re:

I know my brother has all our old photos, well so my sister says, I must look and see if I have any she could copy. Your poor mum probably did it without realizing that her girls would have loved them. That is if you got the chance before your Sis.

Loved this. Made me think of the really old farming photos my Mother once had. Sadly she must have burned all those wonderful pics because we never found them after she and Dad were gone.
