Of course we do not know what stress the poet may have been under, it appears that he searches or tries to search beyond that which is not ready to reveal its secrets. Very difficult to write, you seem to have a good feeling about his motive.

Aba brother
It seems almost that Eliot, whether consciously or unconsciously, wrote this on multiple levels, as though he was mentally working out multiple problems within his own mind. Reflections of his personal life appear to enter, but your question is the crux here. Are we meant to never quite grasp/reach/touch our personal Grail, even if we do find it? Is the quest, the journey, to be one of learning? And if we reach that Grail, is that then peace? Perhaps Eliot though so as he wrote, thus explaining part of why, and from where, he chose the ending words the way he did. Excellent points, and very thought-provoking. Very well done yet again, Aba.

Took me some time to absorb this piece. I believe that it is actually filled with very good advice for a person to live by. personally I always find that I am happiest when I am helping or giving of myself to someone else.
