I will not even try to debate science versus faith... way out of my league.  :)

Yes, as TAPS commented, they support each other. Science was not there yet, so the prophets could not write about it; they wrote what they knew in the times they lived. But it's's both about this great Universe in which we live presently, and will return to in a different form.

Thanks Naut.

It is interesting to read about what was there or not there before the universe formed...Creation stories are very fascinating, too.

Nautikos

I'm afraid I'm out of my league here, not being erudite in either topic! But I love reading about them both!

I am not surprised at any, or all of the things you say here, as, I'm sure you are not a bit surprised at what I say.  We are two very different creatures who happen to like each other and find interesting the things we write.  So, I am sure you already know what I am going to say next.  It's in Hebrews chapter 1 and covers a few of the things you mentioned:

1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

As far as I'm concerned, the Holy Bible and science do not contradict each other, but instead confirm and support each other.

As for the human need to believe - I seem to remember reading

that there's a part of the brain - or was that the DNA - the "god particle" that builds in an intrinsic belief in a creator. I do find this big bang stuff fascinating and whether there was light, or sound, or anything but the reverse of a black hole - your guess is much better than mine.

Re: Kabu

Of course the Bible is not a book of Science - it's a book of Faith, and one doesn't need to study it to know that. It has answers that are regarded as final, whereas science has no final answers, and anything that suggests otherwise is not science. Science and faith are radically different ways of seeing the world, though faith is the much more ancient one..

Re: CCT

I'm not sure what if any sounds are emitted as matter collapses to the point of a BH...And no, there was no 'solid mass' prior to the BB - we can only postulate there was energy...

I once did a two year bible study course way back... after the first evenings study I really didn't need to go back again for everything fell into place, for me. and one can only see things for themselves, I do not believe in pushing who I am I what I believe by faith, onto others.

So what did I learn that was of importance to me...That the Bible is not a book of Science. ....and of course I could expand on that but accepting that the Bible then is of huge importance for me.

Probably a ripping sound if black holes are forming. What was there before the big bang a solid mass?
