Re: Naut

I'd love to see you in a periwig just for the fun of it.  I have always loved all of my bald men friends and relatives.

TAPS

Some years ago I had a discussion with my barber, an Italian who had become a buddy of sorts , and with whom I practiced my rather flimited Italian. And I suggested to him that, since there was less hair to cut than in the past, he should charge me less. He said that since he had to spend so much time looking for something to cut he should actually charge me more! Not too long thereafter I decided to take matters into my own hands, as it were, and began to shave my head...

But I realize that things are somewhat different for women, and if I were a woman, I would simely get a periwig. Hey, I may get one for myself one of these days...

Well I suppose once most did not live long enough to have that worry. It is just nature I suppose. I seem to have a lot of hair, I had to have a ECG and the nurse said sorry I will have to save you. So I said can I have a chaperon.

I would have been taken aback myself had that happened...It seems, though, that with cancer, "Blad is beautiful," has become a good slogan. I do agree.

Oh, dear TAPS, that is a difficult malady, bit you are truly beautiful anyway. I enjoyed the part about laughing in church. My sis and I have had a few episodes of that, and it seems the harder we tried not to laugh, the worse it got and the more we laughed.

It is a horrible thing have happen and I do hope it won't happen to me. Mine has gone dead  straight as it was when I was a kid. But even reading your problems I am so sorry dear I giggled because that head scratching in the church well if I was next to you we would have been holding each other up. Funnier than any skit on TV.

Alopecia is a terrible thing for a woman.  It's definitely not the same as for a man.  I know a girl who is college age that has it, with no hair or eyebrows... she wears wigs and fake brows.   It's easy for us to say that you look great no matter what.... but do whatever makes you feel good!

Re: I'm sure you know there are medical conditions besides alopecia that

Thyroid problems run in our family and I've been fighting it for 40 years.  When I'm on the upward limit of my med I have trouble with my heart.  When my med is lowered for that reason I sleep all the time and my hair falls out.  Right now (actually since April or May Doc has me off of thyroid med because of AFib, and the hair is falling out like mad.  But anyway, I love the crocheted hats.  I kept all three for me so I could have an assortment for changes.

I'm sure you know there are medical conditions besides alopecia that

thin the hair - Just wondering if you've had your thyroid checked. (that's what I blame for my own thinning hair). Every once in a while the shopping networks sell good looking wigs at a reasonable cost, and one of these days I'll click on the site.
