Wish it were that simple! And it ain't quite how you describe it anyway - the crazy fat boy talks about war and pretends to prepare for it, and your old man merely responds, and does so appropriately. Should he simply say, 'Okay, I'll give you all you want?' But there won't be a war - the fat boy is not that stupid, or if he is, I'm sure there are people smart enough to stop him. He'll have an accident one of these days - in fact, he'll may have one anyway...

I just love it...and if you read any true history of the first World war not something that praises the generals but tells the truth, if those old men had been sent into fight it out with each other they would probably have ended sharing the port after a damned good dinner. Instead they sent millions of the best from all over the World to just climb up out of a bunker and get shot down.

Good poem, and I sure hope no wars! And anyway, when one emerges from a bunker, who or what is left to see or find?

Yes very apt Pat. In the last cold war our council built a shelter for the councilors. A bit ironic, even if they ever manage to occupy it before anyone else did.
