I'm glad to hear of the film, but don't think I would go to see it. After reading about the others, yes, I'd go on discount night.

Re: Kabu,

I understand this film is typical of the particular director, including the sudden, lame ending.

I've heard several blah reviews of Dunkirk and would not really like to

see a bloody re-enactment - don't like war movies in general, although I have great admiration for those who fought. But spending a day with the son, now that sounds like a great time!

you hit all that was missing in Dunkirk for me. Apart from the mumbled end where we hear that 300,000 were saved, it appeared that nearly everyone was drowned. I was expecting it more bloody because it was but for me the biggest chance to show the real courage of the British people when they were called to serve was the enormous am ardor of small boats that saved an army.

I too enjoyed the spitfires and Wiley knew every plane on site but the true spirit of heroism was not there. As I said, it isn't Oscar material for me.

Re: CCT,

Anyone feeling sorry for themselves these days, especially young people, should see more movies and histories about what their own grandparents lived through. So much is forgotten, so many who sacrificed both as soldiers and in staying home dealing with the immediacy of war, the shortages and rationing, the constant fear of losing someone... the actual losing...  Kids should know about it, should feel it vicariously at least, and know what war and sacrifice means.

Meanwhile, one of the musics playing before the show at the tent--MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING set in the Old West--was the theme for THE HIGH CHAPARRAL. Loved that one, when I was a kid! Did you get that one?  And when the Bad Brother walks on stage, they play the theme from THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY.

I guess you have become realistic Ciel. Some things films are great at. I used to like the Westerns. If one knows more or less what really happened, it will always be a job to top that.
