After all these years I still remember two of my high-school teachers for what they had on their desks. One was a man Biology teacher who always had his feet on his desk while he leaned his wooden chair back on two legs. Once he leaned too far and fell over on his back. Besides his shoes, on his desk he had biological specimens that he changed every day. The other was an old woman, a world history teacher, at the end of her teaching career. I loved the shiny wood of the uncluttered desk and the few books she had there, the most prominently placed was a Bible along with the history books.
