- Go to Another Five Inches--Wow!
I always loved thunder and lightning storms with all the rain. Probably because I live in a dry climate, so it's a treat when we have one. When I lived in Mexico in the summer we'd have quite the storms! I heard someone from the village we lived in got hit by lightning a couple of years ago and died :(

Make that 7" (officially) in one night. Many cars totalled just from sitting too near Indian Creek, Turkey Creek, and Brush Creek. Other cars washed away while driving.

My comments keep disappearing perhaps its the rain. If we have half an inch we feel good about it. Goodness knows what would happen if we had 5 inches. I guess some houses would be unsaleable marked as flood potential.

Our summer too has been unlike our normal ones - way too wet! And I guess Rib worries about leaks - not unusual for a sailor...

Re: anibanerjee
I can't even imagine 1,554.2 inches average per year. I looked it up to see what it looked like. It is quite beautiful. We are more like a flood-plain and there is nothing but pictures, and warnings on our news this morn.

I used to love watching the light show & crashing thunder when
we lived in Eastern Washington's desert country - Standing on the front porch and sheltered from the rain and - I thought - safe from lightning. Storms there, I found out after I moved to the Midwest, were half as loud and not as turbulent as the ones we "enjoy" in KC and St. Louis...

Storms are such a joy to watch when we are inside nice and comfy, popcorn being the bonus . I used to love taking in Mother Nature's show while sitting on the gallery with my Grump. Unfortunately, Mommy is terrified, and will eat walls in her attempt to escape if I am not right there to calm her. It kinda dulls the shine of the storm-watch.

Imagine, TAPS, our's as you know, is a desert state. In a hill mountain town, Mt. Abu one day's, the day before's rainfall has been 50% more tha what the state has in an entire season, 32 inches, and the very next day it witnessed another 30 inches. The other desert towns are in severe floods.

Oh, my! What weather you are enduring! How calmly you mention the flooding and how you are sitting there with your popcorn. I'm afraid I'd be like Ribcage. That was funny how you described him telling you what you already knew. LOL! But do take care and I hope it settles down.
