All this unrelated matter sounds like you are writing about KC. I couldn't believe the amount of rain we got last night and half of greater KC is without power. As you can see I have mine, even though it flickered several times and we had to reset the clocks.

In an entirely unrelated matter, we had a heat index of 113 here
yesterday, followed by a night of high winds and thunderstorms. Power is out to hundreds - thousands of folks, and at least two highways near here closed because there are blown-over power lines across them. My own - as you can tell - is on for now, there are ice cubes in the freezer and my boys - who have trees and limbs down and no power - can be expected back from time to time to cool off and enjoy a sip of ice water... Good news it's only going up to the mid-90s today.
