I guess 'Pay attention!' was the advice I received most often. I was a daydreamer. I still have a problem with that....

I don't remember my Mom & Dad using the word "success".  They just set a good example for us:  reading, writing, fun with problem solving, taking us to all parts of the city and learning about people of every culture, maps of the world, different languages, etc.  Of course Mom knew Czech (her heritage) and Dad studied Spanish so that he could teach it to us.  He also taught us a lot of Choctaw that he grew up with in Oklahoma.  They both taught us to enjoy cooking for the family, and even astronomy out in the backyard at night and at the planetarium.  They took us to church every Sunday, taught us The Bible.  Dad took us to "old folks homes" and to the City Union Mission and had us sing for them and talk to them....Sorry, I didn't mean to get carried away on your blog.  It is never ending subject.

Reading library books was my escape from the hard rock world, and

it was free. Writing - journaling - helps me make sense of my reactions and sometimes even figure out what's going on. Both are essential, along with feedback from others who've "been there, done that."  My HS English/History teacher did her best to get me to go to college, to apply for scholarships, etc., but my pointy little head was aimed at getting a job and perhaps grownup status...  Might have had an easier life if I'd listened.

healthy outdoor exercise and good schools evenly divided across all of the countries majorities and minorities.

Reading for me is just part of life. it would be a bad day the one where i didn't read anything...or write something come to think of it.
