The frogs in my backyard pond have been singing at the tops of their
voices for weeks now, silent only during the rainstorms. There are nickel-sized tadpoles occupying the pond, plenty of frog spit. Couple nights ago I got up for a drink of water and spied a frog about the size of a walnut, hanging onto the window screen above the kitchen sink. He was as surprised to see me as I was to see him, but he made me smile.

And I wish I could hear what you hear--I love the loons gentle, haunting sound... and the rest, too, but I don't hear the woodpeckers here, only that dratted flicker trying to pound his way into my closet!
