A great post. I love this. The cemetary that I love is just a mile or so from where I live and it is such a pretty and peaceful place. My Mom & Dad, my brother and my sister are there. I love to park by their graves and just sit there with them for a while, or walk around after a little grave tending. My Son is with his Dad way over south of the river and across town and it is also a beautiful place. One day I plan to be laid to rest at one of the two places but I'm torn as to which.

Our one-room school was beside the community graveyard, and Bird and I would often play among the headstones. Love graveyards during the day - the peace and quiet, but believe I watched one too many zombie movies to be comfortable sleeping beside one every night.

Not sure I'd enjoy that exact place to live but I'm glad he does.

Well a huge number of gypsies have taken grave spaces in our old cemetery fortunately I have booked a couple of spaces, but I don't bother to mow the grass either.

I love walking through old cemeteries. They remind me of the history of us..where we came from.

The oldest English stones that are still legible offer up fragments of life-stories and relationships of folk born 300 years ago. Sometimes a group of stones of deaths of various ages and all around the same time tell of an epidemic or disaster. Ir's all about the continuity of our humanity as well as history.
