Probably meant more to your Mum than she let on. My Mum always said she had a job to show affection because her mother came from better times but was always poorly and with child and no money. It was how many were in those times, but neighbors would share what little there was.

That is for sure and I had two out of many that were very special Aunts to me...my own two nieces sent me FB messages too which makes me warm and happy.
