- Go to Palm Sunday Special
I grew up going to Saturday evening mass followed by going out for pizza with the family. Now, I find that I go to church more often on a random day in the middle of the week than Sundays. It's quieter and there's less showiness or gossip etc. It doesn't follow the rule, but I hope that God doesn't mind too much.

Re: Ciel
Yes, it is kind of a long story, but basically it was a "birthday present" for my 6th BD. At one time, the county decided they wanted to make a thoroughfare right through the middle of my grandparents property. So, by the time I came along Gma's house and yard were on one side of Camden Road and her garden on the other side. The little ones were not supposed to go out of the fenced yard and onto the highway. But.....
I ended up with a thigh fracture and a head injury and was in the hospital for six weeks.

Those Sunday church traditions are so wonderful. Sadly, it seems like so many have gotten away from it...

Re: Naut
I love science and the study of it, but I have a simple faith because I choose to have a simple faith. I believe because I choose to believe. It doesn't keep me from my love of scientific studies. It doesn't have to be an either/or. One does not preclude the other.

There is something enviable about having a simple faith, and the singing is impressive as well...

Re: RPresta
The silver ring went through one of chickens once. LOL. I used to take it off and hold it toward the chickens who loved to peck at shiny things. Once one pecked too hard and pulled it out of my hand and swallowed it. I was afraid to let daddy know so I didn't tell anyone. Much later, mom was preparing a hen for Sunday dinner and she found it in the gizzard. Since the ring was real silver the trip throught the chicken didn't hurt it at all.

What a wonderful post about you, your family and your upbringing! I love the pictures also! As a child Palm Sunday was one of my least favorite Mass days because it required a very long stay in church! :) How sweet your dad made your a silver ring and you have a gold locket from Grandma. I also have one from my maternal grandmother.

Wow, that's a lot of detail to remember. And sweet to think about.
The pin is really pretty, and a nice award even though it wasn't the real reason you were so faithful in your attendance. There was a big crowd at both masses this morning at St. Boniface across the street. I imagine it will really be jammed on Easter.
