Disconcerting, to say the least! And it reminds me of a time, many moons ago, when I had a car where such events could not possibly occur - rust had chewed large holes into the bottom...And I certainly hope Son#1 finds the cause before the next rain...

We ended up getting that rain as well. We did need it as we were in the midst of a drought, too. One often finds leaks somewhere when there is rain.

Re: RPresta
He had everything closed up. He thinks there must be something not sealed up in the area of the base of the windshield wiper on that side.

Our big worry here is the pump in the basement. it workd fine but we must not have a power outage or there will be trouble.

I'm really curious to find out; did he have a window open, a sunroof, anything? I'd have scooped some of the lake out before driving... Keep us posted, please.

Re: Ciel
I won't tell Son that. He just might dig out his grandfather's old hunting rifle.

I'm remembering an episode of that British car show with the three adolescent old men... They did a drive through an African river, ending up with a lake in the car. Their guide took his gun and shot a hole in the floor. That solved the problem!
