Some of my best creative work was after midnight
...once all the other minds around me had fallen asleep, and all the demands of family and social activities.
Now I live pretty much alone, creativity comes when it will, but not much when I haven't had enough sleep.

I dont know what I am . I usually go to bed around 11-1130 and wake up about 8 or so. My dad didnt need much sleep so when I was a teenager he would always be sitting up when I would come in late and then go to bed and be up for work early. I have really been sleeping good since I had that awful flu bug I had a week ago

Re: Annicita
I don't like them at all. My son has them in his room. They make me feel like I am in a dark dungeon cell. It reminds me of when my sons were younger and how I really hated spelunking even though I went along.

You're amply demonstrating your owl's creativity! I, the lark, occasionally manage to get a bit of the academic stuff right...But I too get bread crumbs into my keyboard; and what is worse, coffee and marmalade as well...

have you thought of black out curtains to not be able to tell what time of day or night?

Always been a night owl and being on the floor at 7.00am was a real test for me. Actually co workers learned not to ask me how I was until at least 10.00am when I would come good.LOl. Now I just go with my body. Wake late, go to sleep late.

I'm 100% night owl. Only me and one niece share this trait. The rest of the family was/is always in bed by 9. The worst part for me is that my job has always been of the 8am-7pm kind... up all night and work all day... it's not a good combination! :)

Out of the people I know who are retired, I find that they maintain the same sleep-wake pattern that they did while they were working even if they are giving the luxury of sleeping during the nights or sleeping in.
I am guilty of keyboard crumbs, too. I have created some jelly messes as well.

I quite like the writings those that jump from one thought to another, then another, flitting and fluttering like the birds and bees. From your description, I come in the category of skylarks, wow! Glad at the discovery.

Re: RPresta
I assumed you were one of us because you are usually here in the middle of the night. LOL

How I love this post! From one night bird to another, I just can't help it! I've always been like this, coming alive at night. My dad, grandmother, auntie, and most cousins were all night owls! God knows I've tried to be a bright-eyed chipper Morning Glory, and failed miserably. It was so difficult waking up at 5 a.m. to get ready for work for over 25 years, and before that the years of driving half-blind and half-asleep trying to get my kids to school on time, so early! There does seem to be a gene toward this tendency from what I've read. Crumbs, yeah, all over at times. I keep napkins close by. :)
