Well I really don't like it when folk say 'How are you?' I know I shall have to stand and listened to all their complaints if I complain at all. So I usually say, 'fine thanks.'

My brother, Bird, would say that the only good advice he had to give was 'Don't eat yellow snow; other than that you were on your own.
I think your post is right on - most times we are just there to listen.
