Aba

In this I see Chaucer himself seeing his portaitures much as I see Fellini seeing his, dear Aba, and that to me is, brilliantly! Some of us can't help but eye the world, as I have said, through a lens turned slightly different than that of what most see. I love this post in that it captures so well how Chaucer painted his word portraits of the people of his time. But, I should remind him, had I the chance, not every woman is coarse-grained and large-hipped at 40, and probably was not so even in his time; women had too much work to do! LOL! A great read.

It was a brilliant way to get to know all these characters from that time of history by bringing them together on a pilgrimage. a daily event like a town fair or something could never have explored Chaucer's England as well as the enforced time together for all these diverse characters.

Thanks for bringing this all back to me.
