I can well imagine the pain of a mother. The pathos was conveyed artfully though in your poem.

Very sad and I can definitely relate.  I had a little granddaughter who lived only two hours after her birth.  There was nothing they could do and she spent the time being held by her daddy, my son, beside the bed of her mother.
