Clearly, the finger isn't the only scar you bear. Emotional abandonment in childhood affects one's whole life. If you haven't searched Complex PTSD yet, I highly recommend it. My go-to for that is Pete Walker's site.

I agree with sam and Kabu! Poor you! But it's great that you do remember. Maybe I will also tell my earliest one. Thank you. And I'm sorry your father wasn't kinder to you.

The scar tissue would be enough to remind you forever that it happened but what sort of a father always had to talk about it in a way that made it seem as though you had done something wrong.
