Sadly, it is about getting the votes. Politicians will say or do anything, even if those viewpoints don't really gel, to get into office.

What they do not realize is that by behaving this way, either A) Islam ends up taking over or B) Right-wing populism will take over.

I feel the reason populism tends to take hold is that common sense moderate solutions are not done. The frustration builds, and we end up with populism.

They continue to work from within(meaning, using the government to go against the people)  and against the collective whole to reach their aims! Very serious to me! sam

..... but I do not see it as insanity.  It is merely an egotistical extreme adherence to liberal philosophy,  as dictated by the leading progressive radicals, who are  following the general principles and teachings of those like Saul Alinsky.  They preach absolute tolerance as their ideal,  but they are becoming extremely intolerant of those who disagree with them,  seeking to outlaw them or destroy their reputations.

Naut

'Liberal fascism' is a good term for the current liberal fanaticism.  Another aspect is that of religious zealotry.  The liberal philosophy has become their religion,  and they are persecuting the non-believers.  What is so bizarre is that they do not see the built-in religious zealotry of Islam.  And they do not see the end of the game,  when they will persecuted as infidels,  when the Muslims have enough votes to take over cities,  states,  and then the country.

"Collective insanity" is a very interesting term and, I think it is definitely a possibility in many areas of life.  One needs to be so careful about what influence is fed into the things that interest us, and we definitely need to think for ourselves.  I don't know who is influencing your Mr. Trudeau, but I think he needs different advisors.

Nautikos

If passed, it will be interesting to see how the courts handle the cases on it.
