HA!!
Statistics from the BBC?..... what do you expect from them? Their country has disarmed its people. They are cherry-picking statistics, because they are heavily biased against guns. For some balance, please consider the following.
Your statistic: 13,286 people killed by guns and 26,819 injured, in 2015.
Balance: this includes police officers and civilians shooting people in their duty or in self-defense. Don't you think those incidents should be numbered, so we can get a better picture? Also, many of these incidents were accidents, but the BBC is not interested in breaking their gross number down for us. Take away gun accidents alone, for some balance. In 2013, murder by guns was 8,454..... thousands less than the total killed. Murders are what we should really be most concerned about, don't you think?
Speaking of accidents, in 2015 car accidents killed 35,092 and injured over 2 million. Other accidental deaths totalled 136,053. Prescription overdoses killed 14,800. Medical errors kill more than 250,000 Americans each year, according to a Johns Hopkins study.
Wow, doctors and hospitals, making errors, kill way more people than guns, about 19 times more people. And more people kill themselves with pills than are killed by guns total. Shouldn't you be more concerned about that?

apparently it is since most NRA members and their lackeys in office say guns don't kill people. People kill people. This I think is the most absurd argument I have ever heard.
