Wow, lol. My mom took me 3 times to get perms
when I was a kid. I used to wonder why my Grandma and I were so lucky and I was grateful it wasn't actually permanent, haha...that smell is stomach curling!

Well in the old days they used to curl the hair with heated tongs. I can't remember how it worked ask your Mum.

I used to have perms but not now for years. One perm that I had years ago wouldn't dry, the hair turned to jelly and had to be cut one inch long all over my head. Sigh!

I can relate to horror stories about salon experiences! Seems like I've had my share also but not with perms. Just horrid haircuts. I don't do haircuts often to this day!

Those are quite the perming experiences to have had. I myself do not know of anyone who had perming experiences like that.
